About Arthur
Art retired from the University of Northern Iowa in June 2021. For much of his 32 years there he was Director of the UNI Center for Real Estate Education and during that time also served as Head of the Finance Department. He taught a wide variety of courses, including Real Estate, Finance and Insurance. Art currently holds an Iowa Real Estate Salespersons license and, in the past held Iowa Personal Lines Insurance and Commercial Lines Insurance licenses.
Art has consulted extensively during his career. Using his academic background, he has served as expert in numerous real estate and insurance litigations. He has been retained by real estate owners and developers to conduct real estate market studies and investment analyses of residential and commercial projects. Recently Art’s passion for senior living has evolved into a new venture, Senior Housing Advising, L.L.C. He leverages his real estate expertise to advise senior living operators in ways to make improved decisions. He also works directly with senior adults and their loved ones as they consider their future housing needs. He demystifies complex decisions by helping families understand the current senior living environment, what senior living options exist for them and what are the consequences of a particular decision.
Art lives in the Des Moines, Iowa metropolitan area. He is the father of daughters living in three different time zones. Art is Past President of the Board of Directors of NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. He is a member of the West Polk County Rotary Club. He enjoys landscaping, staying active, and spending time with family.
